Mechanical Questions

1.Q. Discuss the various types of Cam and Follower?

2.Q. Explain the term PISTON EFFORT, CRANK EFFORT, and CRANK PIN EFFORT?

3.Q. Draw the cam profile for a knife-edge follower with the following data
(i)Cam lift 40 mm during 90° of cam rotation with SHM
(ii)Dwell for next 30°
(iii)During the next 60° of cam rotates the follower returns to its original position with SHM
(iv) Dwell during the remaining 180°
The radius of the base circle of the cam is 40mm, Determine the maximum velocity of the follower during its ascent and descent, if cam rotates at 240rpm.

4.Q. The length of the crank and the connecting rod of the horizontal reciprocating engines are 100mm and 50mm respectively.     The crank is rotating at 400rpm. using Klein's construction finds-
